Public lecture by Dr Andrew Conrad, CEO of Verily (an Alphabet company).

With mobile apps that track migraine attacks, selfies used to support diagnoses, and text reminders for medication already part of everyday healthcare, Dr Andrew Conrad explored how digital technologies could shape the future of medicine. In his Novartis Lecture, he discussed emerging healthcare trends, the importance of data management and security, and the growing collaboration between technology and pharmaceutical companies.

As CEO of Verily (formerly Google Life Sciences), Conrad led a team of more than 600 experts in engineering, science, design and medicine working on a wide range of healthcare innovations. He highlighted projects such as the development of a smart contact lens designed to measure blood glucose levels, created in partnership with Alcon, Novartis’s eye-care division. The project reflected Verily’s ambition to make everyday technologies smarter and more useful for improving health outcomes.

Before joining Verily, Andrew Conrad co-founded the National Genetics Institute, where he served as Chief Scientific Officer, and founded the California Health and Longevity Institute (CHLI). He also served as Chief Scientific Advisor to the North Carolina Research Campus and contributed to several healthcare and innovation initiatives, including the Health Evolution Summit Leadership Committee and the Precision Medicine Initiative.
