In this Novartis Lecture, Prof. Botond Roska and Prof. Hendrik Scholl from the Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB) provided insights into their pioneering work to develop the next generation of treatments for visual disorders. The lecture explored the science behind vision, the challenges faced by people with sight loss, and emerging therapeutic approaches, including the growing potential of gene therapy. The event was introduced by Dr Jörg Reinhardt, Chairman of the Board of Novartis, who highlighted the successful collaboration between Novartis and the IOB and its contributions to advancing ophthalmic research.
